We Care About Things That Matter To All Of Us.

First of all- I know you're all thinking it, so I'll just go ahead and clear the air. It's pronounced sid-uhs. Sydney is the name of my first born and when I signed my name on the dotted line to become a business owner, she was still a little babe. A little babe that I was sure would have the nickname Sydda but who of course ended up with the nickname Squid. Parenthood, right?

 

Now. I've been a "size XL" for many years. And in all those years, shopping has been a miserable process. Finding something to fit has always been a challenge, not just because stores rarely carry outside the norm of S-L but also because you rarely find someone in a store able or willing to help you find what looks best- what makes you feel your best. This whole miserable process is called "fast fashion". Giant manufacturing plants churn out chemically toxic and structurally ragged clothing to brands whose main goal in life is to sell you the next hot trend. That's not my goal. Obviously, I will need someone to occasionally make a purchase so I can afford to stay open BUT- my true goal in life has become to make Syda's a place of solace and information.

 

Our store is stocked with brands of women's, children's, maternity wear and toys all in the name of brand awareness. We should all be much more familiar with the names that offer us better options for fit and function, for longevity and improved health, and for expanding your child's imagination. The word sustainability covers a myriad of things but it basically means for the health and wellbeing of us and our planet. Our skin absorbs whatever we put on it, clothing included. Natural fabrics require less chemical processes to reach the final result which makes them the healthiest choice for us. But we carry plenty of "unhealthy" options too. The majority of our synthetic fiber options come from overstock sourced from other boutiques which helps save it from the landfill- making it a healthy choice for the planet. And I'm proud to say that many many brands we carry are manufactured or made by hand right here in the U.S.

 

I guess all you really need to know about the family and the idea behind Syda's is that we saw a need for something in ourselves. We wanted to bring a new style and a new way of doing things to the place we were all born and raised. Come visit me, my husband, the kids, the grandparents, the great grandparents and maybe even the dog.

If your kids are being a little chaotic, bring them here to join my chaotic children in their giant playroom. If you want to pump or nurse your baby somewhere comfortable, we have a private mother's room set with all the essentials just for you. We'll also be hosting regular events for all of our customer base- kids and grownups alike so keep a close eye on our social media! We can't wait to meet you!
